Minimum wage to increase by 50 cents per hour

The minimum wage in New Brunswick will increase by 50 cents per hour to $9.50 per hour on Friday, April 1.

Employees paid a salary, or by commission, or by the piece, are entitled to receive at least the minimum wage for all hours worked under the control of the employer. Once this latest increase is in effect, an individual working 40 hours per week will earn a minimum of $380 per week. The minimum overtime wage rate will be $14.25 per hour. An individual is entitled to receive this wage for any hours worked after 44 hours in a week.
