Public Library Service now offers downloadable audiobooks and eBooks
01/12/2011
Library card holders can now check out and download audiobooks and eBooks anytime, anywhere by visiting the New Brunswick Public Library Service website.
This will allow New Brunswickers who have a library card to download and read or listen to eBooks and audiobooks immediately or transfer them to portable devices. Many audiobooks, if the publisher has granted permission, may also be burned to CD. The downloaded content will automatically disappear at the end of the lending period. As a result, there are no late fees.
This service will be a significant technological step forward for our libraries, said Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Martine Coulombe. We are pleased with every effort that makes it easier for the people of this province to have access to books, whether they are electronic or physical.
This service requires the use of software that will be provided free of charge and is available though the library service website.
For more information, contact the nearest public library or visit the library service website. Interested New Brunswickers who do not have a library card can get one for free at any public library or bookmobile, or order one from the library service website.
